In September 2004, I took an afternoon off from work to visit the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Washington Dulles International Airport. It is the newest facility of Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum. The center is open to the public, but it is also still being set up. They have a large collection of aircraft from passenger planes, military jets, and space age travel.
