Polar Bear Plunge

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mike @ 4:41 pm

The DC area isn’t exactly famous for its beaches. Most of the people I know travel out to Ocean City, MD or Virginia Beach when they want to have some fun in the water. I have lived in Northern Virginia since 1996 and I had not made it to the beach until yesterday. OK, I didn’t exactly make it to the Atlantic Ocean, but I did go to the Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, MD.

The day started with the temperature in the mid 20s and eventually got into the 30s. The water was a cold 36-38F. I joined two other brave Single Volunteers from SVBA and SVDC in taking the polar bear plunge into the Chesapeake Bay to raise funds for Special Olympics. Several other members of SVBA and SVDC came to cheer us on.

Never Enough Time

I always come up with these great ideas of things to do, but it seems like I rarely find enough time to do all of them.

MSP Polar Bear Plunge 2008

Filed under: Community, Life in General, Friends — Mike @ 8:18 am

On January 26, 2008, I have committed to plunge into the cold waters of the Chesapeake Bay alongside about 7,500 other warm-hearted people. I am participating in the MSP Polar Bear Plunge 2008 and I will grin and “bear” it for the athletes of Special Olympics Maryland.

National Treasure II: Book of Secrets

Filed under: Acting — Mike @ 3:03 pm

In April 2007, I spent two long nights at Mount Vernon on the set of National Treasure II: Book of Secrets. The movie came out just before Christmas and on December 23, 2007, I saw the movie with my parents and two foreign exchange students. The big question that everyone wants to know the answer to is, “Was I in the movie?”

Happy New Year

Filed under: entertainment, Life in General — Mike @ 8:10 am

Well, 2008 is finally here. I am sure that I will find myself writing 2007 a few times in the coming weeks.

I really haven’t done anything too special for New Year’s Eve in many years. Several times, I even went to bed early. This year, we went out to dinner and a movie. We were in the car driving home when the clock struck midnight and 2007 came to an end.
