On Saturday, October 27th, I participated in the Cities Readiness Initiative Training & Exercise Program at the George Mason University Patriot Center. The exercise was put on by the Fairfax County Health Department’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and the Fairfax Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). I didn’t know too much about the exercise, but that didn’t stop me from volunteering.
I am glad that the local governments are conducting exercises to prepare for large-scale emergencies. But after participating in this exercise, I feel that they have a lot of work to do. Many of my observations deal with their communication with the volunteers, or more specifically me.
I have been collecting Hot Wheels for a few years. I began by collecting just Corvettes. After a while, I started collecting any complet set of 4-6 cars that I found. Then I started collecting the New Models series which includes between 25 and 35 cars released during the course of the year. Since the cars each cost less than a dollar, I am not spending that much money to collect Hot Wheels.
I have been a member of the South Riding Proprietary Website Committee for several years and the Chair of the committee for the past two years. Last spring, we started working with a vendor to upgrade the community’s website. On Monday, the new website finally launched. Visit http://www.southriding.net/ to see the new website.
Welcome to Mike Becvar’s Blog. Here you will learn about my take on the world. I expect to write about the things I encounter in my job as an eLearning Developer; at my home in South Riding, VA; and my experiences as an aspiring actor.
