Theatre

Filed under: entertainment, Life in General, Acting — Mike @ 7:05 pm

I have been going to the Theatre in DC for the past several years. My favorites are usually the big Broadway hits, musicals, and commedies. I pay for tickets at the Kennedy Center, Warner Theatre, and National Theatre. I also volunteer as an usher in exchange for tickets at the Studio Theatre.

Day without my cell phone

Filed under: Life in General, Acting — Mike @ 9:09 pm

I had to go to Silver Spring, MD for an acting project this morning. When I got out of the car, I reached down to check my pocket for my cell phone and didn’t feel it there. I don’t use my phone a lot, but I do like knowing that I have it with me for those few times when I do need to call someone.

Videos…

Filed under: Clown, entertainment, Websites, Life in General, Acting — Mike @ 10:12 pm

It seems like my friends are much more into watching videos on YouTube than I am. They post links to videos they found and think others will like all the time. I have created a few videos of my own and posted them on YouTube, but I really haven’t spent a lot of time watching other people’s videos.

Well, the fall festival is officially over. This was my second year working at Cox Farms and the season seemed to fly by so quickly. Sunday was the last day of their Fall Festival and today was the employee debrief session.

I just got back from Markoff’s Haunted Forest. A group of us from Cox Farms went to see what they do and have fun before our own Fields of Fear.

On Unemployment….

Filed under: Volunteer, Clown, Websites, Life in General, Friends, Acting, eLearning — Mike @ 9:26 am

OK, I have been avoiding this… Yes, I am currently unemployed. I don’t know all the details, but my last employer went out of business. We were told on August 19th and sent home that same day.

For a long time, I used my day job as an excuse for not being able to spend more time working as a clown or an actor. But, now I have the time on my hand and don’t have any jobs as a clown or actor. I have the time to put together a Birthday party show, learn a few more balloons, and practice some magic tricks. I can also put together some headshots and marketing materials. But all of this takes time and money and doesn’t bring in a paycheck right away. I just don’t feel that I am at a point where I am ready to be able to do clowning full time and make enough money to cover the expenses.

My other side business for the past year has been developing websites. I have had my own websites for a few years and seem to add one or two each year. I have not been paid as a website developer as I am either working for myself or volunteering my services to the group. I have started talking with a few friends about creating or updating their website. I see this as one possible option for income until I can get my clown business off the ground.

But, since I need the money, I am also looking for a full time position. I know that there is a chance this will mean that I will actually have less free time for clowning and acting than I had with my last job.

Only time will tell what happens next.

So if you are interested in hiring a clown, actor, website developer, or eLearning developer, I am available.
